When you are tailing an opponent, if you are directly behing them, small blue 'speed streaks' appear on the screen. Stick behind an opponent for long enough and you'll get a turbo boost accomponied by a blue 'sheild' of these 'speed streaks' to help you bash opponents out of your way.

You can tell which item boxes are fake and which are real quite easily. If you look at fake item boxes they won't be spinning, while as real ones do spin slowly. Alternatively, look at the map (bottom screen); fake item boxes show up red.

How:
Just after the second jump, you'll see a sign ahead of you to turn right. If you have a mushroom or two you can simply veer right of the sign and boost through the shallow water to cut a substantial corner.

If you have a mushroom, just as you leave the narrow lanes, and before you head over the bridge, turn left and use you boost over the mud where the two trees are. A small ramp will launch you over the river and onto a pier on the other side, cutting a sizeable corner.

When you exit the smalls street of the city you enter the docks.At the end of the last house in the city go left and go on the
pier. There is a small ramp before the mud, use a mushroom toget enough speed to jump over the water and land on the other
at the other side of the water. This can be done without a mushroom, but you have to do 150cc for it and you have to be either really good or extremly luky. Try to hit the ramp befor
you drive over the mud so you don't loose any speed, it's hard to
do it this way, so just use a mushroom.
