Make sure you have two shovels altogether. (Buy another shovel if you only have one!) Then, with one of the shovels, dig a hole. Then bury the other shovel in that hole. Then either time travel to the next day or wait. (It is a lot easier to time travel)
If you don't know how to already, this is how you time travel:
1) Save and Quit. Then press 'A' when the title screen comes up.
2) Rover will say something like, "It is 6:13 pm in (your town name). Would you like to play?" Some options will come up. Click the bottom option which says 'Other things'
3) Click 'Set date/time' and set it to whatever date and time you want it to be.
4) Then carry on the game. If you go to the next day, dig up the shovel and it will be golden!
