Go into any store and point your gun at the cashier for a few seconds. You can intiate a hold-up! Some will enable you get money straight away (i.e. hair-dressers, mechanics, plastic surgeons) and others will need you to follow them to the safe (i.e. Brown Baggers, Friendly Fire etc). If following, keep your reticule over them otherwise they'll raise the alarm. Usually the haul is about $750. (This can only be done once per store per day)

Hold up the mechanic, money should appear from the till (lots of $$$), kill him before he sets off the alarm. Grab a car, enter the mechanics list (i.e. go to do it up in the garage) and by then the mechanic has respawned, so has the money - repeat for a nice amount of money.
