How:
Select the Lightning beam. Pause the game. Hold down the L trigger. Select any other beam (not the lightning beam) on the touch screen and keep the selection depressed as you unpause the game.
Now both the lightning beam and the second beam you selected will shoot at the same time. This will continue until you reselect the lightning beam or there is a cutscene.
