In Trades in the Season mode

Start with a player with a low overall rating, eg. 64. Trade that player for one with an overall rating of 65 or 66, then trade this new player for another slightly better player, and so on, until you have the player you want. (n.b. Age is sometimes a factor in trades, so if u get stuck with an old player who no-one will trade for, trade for a slightly worse, but younger player, then continue the trading until again until you have your desired player)
