How:
trade with them to get 3 fossilized fingers, use these much later in the Oni sacred place on a locked door covered in bones. A puzzle must be completed first. But be cautious, this necklace drains your health.

Effect: Obtaining the gold coin
When:
After going through the gold mine in Imasho for the first time, you should revisit and there will be a dog roaming around by the guard house.
How:
Press O when facing the dog, and it will wag it's tail. You have to keep doing this so the dog will like you. Eventually, it will bark and lead you to the location of the coin. Press X to pick it up. This is a good item to give to Ekei.
