Play any stage until all/majority of special items and memos are collected , but before finishing the stage: ie. most of the posible points of a stage have been obtained. Look for a type writter to save progress.
After saving, quit the game- the progress screen that has point earned shows up and those points are automatically also saved, proceed to reload the last saved point and repeat the proces a number of times.
Go to collected items to see if your points have increased.
