What you need to do is equip people with a weapon with the overdrive>ap ability. to speed things up put triple ap and/or triple overdrive, double overdrive etc. then the first way is set one persons overdrive as stoic and the other 2 charachters as comrade. have the stoic guy attack don tonberry in the monster arena, revive him do it again and again then flee. the other way is set all the overdrives on ally get a turbo controller and sellotape down the triangle button when you face a magic urn in the cavern of the stolen fayth. the urn never attacks, so just make sure the triangle button dosn't pop up and go to sleep. you'll wake up to enough sphere levels to complete the grid.

How:
Get the Mars Crest at the end of the Old Miihen Highroad(The long road where your party was pushed by the Chocobo Eater if you weren't able to defeat it).It will be in a treasure chest.
Get the Mars Sigil by talking to the monster arena guy until he gives it to you after capturing at least 1 fiend of every speceis in 10 diffrent locations.
After obtaining the Mars Crest and Sigil,upgrade Auron's Masamune where you upgraded the Cloudy Mirror to the Celestial Mirror.
