You may need to go to the file nwn.ini in the game folder and add the line
Debug Mode=1 to the section under "Game Options". This can be done with Notepad or a similar text editor
Now while playing press ~ to get the console and type DebugMode 1 (case sensitive)
Now press ~ again and press the TAB key to get a list of debug commands. Press TAB again to scroll the commands. Now enter a code below. Some will simply say "success" after entering, others will say "Entered Target Mode" in which you must click on a character you want to apply the cheat to. Change the # sign to a corresponding number of your choice

and you can buy it for 0gp, so if you buy and sell it over and over

To enable Neverwinter Nights cheats, you will need to hit the
tilde (Shift + ~) key and type in "DebugMode 1" (case sensitive).
Then hit the (Shift + ~) key again and press [TAB]. This should
show you a list of the different functions available.
Hit [TAB] again to scroll down the list.
NOTE: All Neverwinter Nights codes are case sensitive.

the contents of these chests are random, with items within
being chosen from a random table comprised of items of
relatively equal value. Thus, a particular chest may always
contain a powerful magic item, with different items to choose
from each time you reload and reopen the chest.
