Hitting a Xucco with your sword no longer results in a Cucco attack as in previous Zelda games. Instead you are able to control the animal for a small period of time after just 8 hits.
By the Spring entrance is a boulder you can destroy. Head through, and hop into the water. Then just use your iron boots to sink down to the piece of heart chest. Now go back to the boulder you destroyed. Look above, and fire a bomb arrow at the boulders above. Use the Gale Boomerang to grab another Piece of Heart.
You can get rupees by running into the pillars that look like snakes. Also there are 2 treasure chests at the bottom of the shrine that give you 5 rupees and 10 rupees.
Go down to the basement, and you should find a chest containing a purple 50 Rupee piece. This is best done using the lantern, as you'll be able to see clearly.
